Lake County, IL – 27-Year-Old Man Killed in Head On Crash on Rt 134

Lake County, IL (September 4, 2025) – Authorities have identified the man killed in a deadly head-on collision early Wednesday morning in Ingleside. The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 27-year-old Ingleside died after crashing a stolen Honda sedan into a GMC work truck on Route 134.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 5 a.m. to the scene, located east of North Catherine Street. Deputies arrived to find two heavily damaged vehicles and a driver trapped in the wreckage.
A preliminary investigation revealed Rosendahl was driving west on Route 134 when he veered into the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons. His Honda collided head-on with the GMC driven by a 44-year-old Johnsburg man. Rosendahl sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy determined he died from blunt force injuries to the head, neck, and chest.
Deputies reported finding an open bottle of whiskey in Rosendahl’s lap. The Honda had been reported stolen the day before from a gym in Fox Lake. Illinois Department of Corrections records show Rosendahl was recently paroled in June after serving sentences for possession of a stolen vehicle and retail theft.
The GMC driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is cooperating with investigators. Route 134 was closed for several hours as authorities reconstructed the crash. The wreck also caused significant traffic delays, forcing Gavin School District 37 to delay classes at South Middle School by three hours.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash and the circumstances leading up to the collision. Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident.
