Wadsworth, IL – Woman Seriously Injured After Car Becomes Lodged Under Semi-Truck on I-94

Wadsworth, IL (October 9, 2025) – A woman suffered serious, life-threatening injuries after a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck on Interstate 94 near Wadsworth on Saturday evening. According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), the crash occurred around 5:02 p.m. just south of Russell Rd, near the Route 41 split.

Emergency responders from the Newport Fire Protection District arrived to find a gray Dodge Challenger partially wedged beneath the rear of a blue Kenworth semi-trailer truck. The impact left a female passenger trapped inside the car. Firefighters performed an extensive extrication, working carefully to remove the victim from the crushed vehicle.

Once freed, paramedics provided emergency treatment before transporting her to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was listed in serious, life-threatening condition. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the same hospital for evaluation.

Authorities confirmed that two other vehicles were involved in the crash: a Chevrolet Equinox and the Kenworth semi truck. The collision caused significant disruption on I-94, leading to multiple lane closures and traffic delays extending into Wisconsin.

Authorities are looking into whether speed, visibility issues, or driver distraction may have contributed to the crash. No citations have been issued at this time.
