Mettawa, IL (July 7, 2026) – A 43-year-old man died, and a woman was injured following a three-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in Mettawa on Monday evening, July 6. Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Route 60 and Saint Mary's Road after receiving reports of a serious collision.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said the motorcyclist was found unconscious and not breathing when first responders arrived. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the driver of an SUV sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, while the occupants of a third vehicle were not injured.

Preliminary investigators believe the collision occurred when an SUV turned left into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. After the initial impact, the motorcycle struck a second SUV. Officials said the driver involved is cooperating with the investigation.
